I sometimes wonder...

...why the man with the yellow hat repeatedly leaves Curious George alone despite the costly chaos to which he always returns. At what point during George's capture in Africa did the man think, "Hmmm, instead of the zoo, let me bring this wild primate into my home to pooh on my floor and leave banana fingerprints all around my apartment."?

...if Hansel and Gretel's woodland neighbors regretted not reporting their lunatic stepmother and pansy father to child protective services, thereby avoiding the whole oven debacle.

...if Old Mother Hubbard didn't think dementia had set in after she returned home to her resurrected dog dressed in clothes and rockin' out while riding a barnyard animal.

...why no one ever noticed that the old man who was snoring had clearly suffered a traumatic brain injury. The precipitation was the least of his problems; he needed medical attention, and perhaps a less volatile bed.

Reach out and touch some...snowman

Every once in a while I feel bad when I pick up Whit from daycare just when they are about to start a new activity that I know he enjoys. Yesterday I arrived right before gym time, and he was all jazzed to get in the wagon and ride down with his friends for the mayhem that is a bunch of toddlers running around like bumper cars. However, I think I won the "cool playmate" prize for today when I took him sledding and then made him a pint-sized snowman, and a house for the snowman, and lots of little snowball friends (that he enjoyed having me chuck through the air). Beat THAT, daycare!!!!!!

Not Just Another Year

Some of you may not know that Andy's and my anniversary is the same as Whit's birthday (apparently the five-year anniversary gift is not silverware but a baby). Every year now we are reminded of how blessed we are to be a family, and how much all of us mean to each other. Happy second birthday to our little man, and happy anniversary to my best mate.

Duets

Look out Elton John and Kiki Dee, here come Whit and Ev and their folk-inspired nursery rhyme tour, coming soon to a milk bar near you.

Fun fact: milk bars were actually pretty common in Melbourne, but they aren't places where you cozy up to the rail for a tall one of moo juice on tap - they are quick marts kinda like 7-Eleven.
