Surroundings

We know it is hard to believe, but us city folk have moved somewhere even more country than we were before (note: it is actually really easy to believe, as only city folk would refer to this as 'the country' in any way, shape, or form...but our neighbor is a farmer, so we feel we have street cred).  Here is his old-school tractor harvesting hay.

And here is our little not-so-secret garden.  Inspired to finally succeed in growing something edible beyond herbs, I have put a modicum of effort into educating myself about gardening.  At the end of the day, however, I think a lot of it is luck.

Pieper Patch Statistics:
Contents - Three varieties of tomatoes, strawberries, squash, zucchini, watermelon, pumpkin, and herbs

Enemies - The deer that slinks in and out of the woods in our backyard, whom Whit has aptly named Nineveh; birds that eat strawberries right when the are ripe; countless rabbits

Security - Likely the most highly engineered garden in the state, Andy and I built a fence with a swinging gate and bird netting.  Result?  Now the bugs are eating the strawberries.  However, regular harvesting has provided many beauties like this!

These two are pretty much inseparable, and we are enjoying it while it lasts!
