The list of firsts is truly endless when you have your first child. Every day seems like it is filled with firsts for us and Whit. Some of our most memorable ones from the past year:
~My first time experiencing labor and all the fun stuff afterwards that no one ever discusses
~Andy's first time holding Whit in the hospital
~Whit's first car ride home, and driving like we had 50 dozen un-cartoned eggs in the back
~Whit's first smile and laugh
~The first time Whit recognized our voices
~Whit's first cold, and how it seemed rather pathetic that he didn't seem to mind being sick near as much as his parents do
~Whit's first airplane ride and tourist experience in our nation's capital
~The first time work has interfered with my personal life, and having to sort through what that means to me (still sorting...)
~Whit's first meal of solids, and subsequent first nights of blissful full-night sleeping
~Whit's first tooth that suddenly appeared and ended up being nothing like the painful eruption of the seven since then
~Whit's first funky dance moves
~Whit's first time "swimming" (splashing, really) at Mullett Lake
~The first time Whit cried when we left the room
~The first time Whit went from looking like an escaped con shimmying under a fence to crawling on all fours
~Whit's first Halloween costume, Thanksgiving feast, and Christmas morning presents
~The first time we knew what it felt like to be parents, and how thankful we are for everything that Bob & Esther and Rich & Kathy did for us growing up
Enough reminiscing mom, let's eat some cake!
